The Bears Need To Let Justin Fields Play Free

I've been a big Justin Fields fan/defender since he got into the NFL. I was always a Fields fan and liked him just after Trevor Lawrence as the best QB in that Draft Class. Last year after the Commanders vs. Bears Thursday Night game, I hopped into Barstool Chicago's Twitter Spaces and chimed in saying the organization was ruining this young blue chipper.

What followed was spectacular.

The Bears scaled things back. They started calling more designed runs. He was averaging about 12 runs per game and throwing it a very manageable 22.5 times per game. The play calls were much simpler too. His completion percentage was 60%+ for the next eight games and while the wins didn't necessarily stack up, Fields stock way way up.

People have recency bias and they see poor games against top defenses like the Packers and the Buccaneers, but how quickly they forget:

This man is incredible! So when it came out today that he needed to play more freely, I said "hell yes Just1no!"

And it's being spun like he's just blaming his coaches. That's taken out of context.

I know the Bears are 0-2 and the sky is falling. But just don't try and fit a square peg into a round hole. Gear your gameplan towards your best player. Don't have your best players adapt to your gameplan.

Let Justin Fields be Justin Fields.
