Forecaster Frank Week 2: Picking up the Pieces

After a terrible season in 2022, I crashed hard in Week 1, posting a 5-11 record, proving again that fading me is always welcome

Thursday Night

Phi -6.5 (o/u 52.5)

Eagles 34 Vikings 17

In Week 1, the Eagles jumped out quickly and throttled back, almost blowing the game in Foxboro. In their home opener on Thursday, they host the Vikings, who fumbled away victory against the Buccaneers. Kirk Cousin's primetime failures are well documented. Expect the Eagles to soar as the Vikings sink again.

Sunday at 1

Atl +1.5 (o/u 40.5)

Falcons 23 Packers 20

The Packers' new quarterback is getting a lot of love after destroying the Bears in Week 1. However, was it more the Bears being trash or Green Bay finding a suitable replacement for Aaron Rodgers? Jordan Love will have a good game, but the Falcons will win at home as Bijan Robinson has a breakout game.

Buf -9.5 (o/u 47)

Bills 32 Raiders 10

Coming off an embarrassing Monday Night loss to the Jets, the Bills need to make a statement in their home opener. Josh Allen especially has to come out strong after four turnovers. Expect a Buffalo stampede as the Raiders' early game struggles continue.

Cin -3.5 (o/u 46)

Bengals 20 Ravens 16

The Bengals had a rough Week 1, scoring three points in the rain while losing to the Browns. In their home opener, they need a stronger game from Joe Burrow to ease nerves in Cincinnati. The game will be tough, but the Bengals will claw their way to a win, as Ja'Marr Chase gets a big catch in the fourth quarter.

Det -5.5 (o/u 47)

Lions 41 Seahawks 13

Coming off their upset of the Chiefs, the Lions have their most anticipated home opener in decades. The Ions will unveil a statue of Barry Sanders and run over the Seahawks. Look for a Detroit domination as the Lions make the league take notice.

Hou +1 (o/u 39.5)

Texans 20 Colts 17

Anthony Richardson played well in his debut, as the Colts held a fourth-quarter lead against the Jaguars. C.J. Stroud, meanwhile, has work to do as he scuffled in his debut for Houston. This game will not be a masterpiece, but the Texans will win for the home crowd.

KC -3 (o/u 51)

Chiefs 31 Jaguars 27

The Chiefs are hoping Travis Kelce can play after missing the opener, which was a stunning loss to the Lions. The Jaguars have hungry fans expecting big things. The game will be a thriller, but Patrick Mahomes will use his veteran guile to outpass Trevor Lawrence.

TB -2.5 (o/u 41.5)

Buccaneers 30 Bears 17

It is back to the drawing board in Chicago, as the Bears were humiliated by Green Bay at home. The Bears will go from Green Bay to Tampa Bay to sickbay as they are made to walk the plank, with Baker Mayfield cooking the defense in a Buccaneers rout.

LAC -3 (o/u 45)

Chargers 31 Titans 19

The Chargers lost a shootout at home against the Dolphins. Hitting the road, they will be happy to see a Titans offense that does not have the high-throttle weapons of Miami. Look for the Chargers to put up big numbers again, earning a win in Tennessee.

Sunday Late Games

NYG -5.5 (o/u 39.5)

Giants 27 Cardinals 13

The Giants face a must-win game after their humiliating 40-love loss on Sunday Night against the Cowboys. With a game against the Niners on the horizon, the Giants cannot afford a loss to the lowly Cardinals. The Cardinals are a team that will contend for the number one pick, and fans in Arizona are dreaming of Caleb Williams.

SF -8 (o/u 44.5)

49ers 30 Rams 10

The 49ers came out in Week 1 looking to dominate. They shredded the Steelers on both sides of the ball, showing why their defense was tops in 2022. The Rams had an impressive win in Seattle, but coming home, they will sorely miss Cooper Kupp as the Niners dominate again.

Dal -9 (o/u 39.5)

Cowboys 19 Jets 6

The Cowboys are looking to do a Texas two-step over the two teams from New York. The Cowboys blanked the Giants, showing their defense could be a problem for the league. One night later, with their own top defense, the Jets won a game that saw Aaron Rodgers go down with an Achilles injury. Defense will rule the day, with the Cowboys winning with a functioning quarterback, unlike Zach Wilson.

Den -3.5 (o/u 38)

Broncos 17 Commanders 13

The Commanders escaped with a home win against the Cardinals, while the Broncos, missing Jerry Jeudy, lost a one-point game against the Raiders. The Broncos need this game. Sam Howell struggled at home. Expect more struggles as Denver wins a low-scoring game.

Sunday Night

Mia -2.5 (o/u 46.5)

Dolphins 34 Patriots 27

The Dolphins might be the most exciting in the league, as Tyreek Hill is determined to get 2000 receiving yards. Tua Tagovailoa's arm looks more potent than ever, as the Dolphins can score at a moment's notice. Miami's defense needs work, but on Sunday night, expect fireworks as the Dolphins go home 2-0.

Monday Night

NO -3 (o/u 40)

Saints 24 Panthers 13

The Saints escaped with a win against the Titans, as Derek Carr had his ups and downs in his Saints debut. Bryce Young, meanwhile, showed he has room for improvement in his debut with Carolina. Look for the Saints to march out Carolina with a second straight win.

Pit +2.5 (o/u 39.5)

Steelers 20 Browns 17

It is hard to imagine that the Steelers will lose two games at home to start the season. Fans in Cleveland are feeling a new high after they dominated the Bengals. The Steelers' success on Monday Night games is unparalleled, as they are 19-3 under Mike Tomlin.
