Jordan Whitehead Cashed His $250,000 Season Long Incentive Bonus In Week 1 With 3 Interceptions Against The Bills
I'll be watching Josh Allen's Venmo transaction history very closely these next couple days, because either Jordan Whitehead needs to send him the undisclosed amount of money they agreed on before the game, or he needs to send him a fruit basket. Either way, the fact that Whitehead hit his $250,000 incentive bonus after just three quarters and some change is absolutely unbelievable. He's only making 1.25 million in base salary over the 17 game (and only 17 games now, Jets fans) season this year, but he just picked up a quarter milly in one night.
And now the question must be asked: who ends the season with more interceptions, Josh Allen or Jordan Whitehead? Both are on pace for 51, which would blow the current records out of the water. George Blanda threw for 42 interceptions back in 1962, and it was none other than Night Train Lane that set the mark for defensive players with 14 back in 1952.
I know the Jets season is over after their undefeated start, but the winless Bills have to be doing their best to bring Whitehead to Buffalo, right? After all the Stefon Diggs drama in the off-season, wouldn't it be nice to bring in a WR1 that you know has great chemistry with your quarterback?
Okay, I'm done with the jokes (won't even use the Josh Allen had more completions to the Jets than Aaron Rodgers one). I've officially moved on to wondering if players get their incentive money immediately when they reach their goals, or do they have to wait until the end of the year? Buddy could wake up this morning with a 20% bonus in annual salary.
