Texas Is Back

As of Saturday afternoon, Alabama had exactly one home non-conference loss under Nick Saban — the infamous Louisiana-Monroe game in 2007. And then Texas rolled into town.

"Texas is back" has been a meme for many years, but it seems like it's finally just a fact. Steve Sarkisian can coach his ass off when he puts the bottle down. Quinn Ewers is an NFL quarterback that can absolutely win you a national championship. Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell and Ja'Tavion Sanders are going to make every Saturday a hellish experience for the opposing team's secondary. This team is just nasty.

Texas is ranked sixth in the 247Sports Talent Composite, but I think there's an argument to be made the Longhorns' roster is second only to Georgia. And even with that being the case, if those two teams played next Saturday, I might pick Texas. This is absolutely a College Football Playoff team if it plays to its potential for the rest of the season.

Alabama didn't look like what we've seen the Crimson Tide be in the last decade on Saturday, but what Texas did is still as impressive of a non-conference win as I can remember. The only other currently ranked teams the Horns have on their schedule are Oklahoma and Kansas State. My expectations for this team are sky high.

They're back, folks.
