Dak Prescott Owns The New York Giants To A Point Where You Have To See It To Believe It

Welcome to Nerd Nuggets, a new segment that I am starting on Pardon My Take. Each and every week, I will be diving into every game on the NFL schedule & presenting a unique stat that you probably didn't know until now.

The video version of the Week 1 edition can be watched above, but if you are interested in the written form, I provided all of the information below to be consumed here on the blog as well. Enjoy!

Panthers @ Falcons

Frank Reich's tenure as Panthers head coach begins in a familiar place, as he started as the opening day quarterback in the Panthers' inaugural season in 1995 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Bengals @ Browns

The Bengals are wearing white jerseys, white pants, and black socks against the Browns. Cincinnati is 8-2 wearing this combination over the last 2 seasons.

Jaguars @ Colts

The Colts haven’t won in Week 1 since 2013. They will also have a different Week 1 starting QB for the EIGHTH straight year.

2016: Andrew Luck

2017: Scott Tolzien

2018: Andrew Luck

2019: Jacoby Brissett

2020: Philip Rivers

2021: Carson Wentz

2022: Matt Ryan

2023: Anthony Richardson

Buccaneers @ Vikings

The Vikings finished 11-0 in one-score games during the regular season in 2022, while going just 5-8 in 2021. If their game against the Bucs gets tight, keep this in mind.

Titans @ Saints

DeAndre Hopkins is scheduled to make his Titans debut. He has an active streak of 145 consecutive games with a reception - every game since he has played since he entered the NFL. That is the longest active streak in the NFL.

49ers @ Steelers

A weird scheduling quirk: The Steelers are opening the season at home for the first time since 2014. Over the last eight years, Pittsburgh went 5-2-1 on the road in Week 1.

Cardinals @ Commanders

The Commanders have won eight consecutive games against the Cardinals at home dating back to 1999. It is Washington’s longest active home winning streak against any opponent.

Texans @ Ravens

The matchup between the Texans and Ravens features the NFL’s two youngest franchises - Baltimore since 1996, Houston since 2002. Houston has NEVER won a game in Baltimore, who is a perfect 5-0 at home in the series.

Packers @ Bears

Packers QB Jordan Love will become only the third QB to start a season-opener for Green Bay since 1993. Both Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre were winners in their first Week 1 starts.

Raiders @ Broncos

Raiders DE Maxx Crosby îs a Broncos killer. He has accumulated 11.5 sacks across his last seven games against Denver.

Eagles @ Patriots

The Eagles have the most season-opening victories in the NFL since 2011, capturing 10 of their last 12 Week 1 games.

Dolphins @ Chargers

Chargers WR Keenan Allen needs four catches to tie Julio Jones as the second-fastest player ever to reach 800 career receptions (127 games), trailing only Antonio Brown’s 126 games.

Rams @ Seahawks

Rams QB Matthew Stafford needs two passing touchdowns to surpass Pat Haden and move to 7th in franchise history with 53 TD passes, and he’s only played 26 regular season games for the team. That’s insane!

Cowboys @ Giants

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has absolutely dominated the New York Football Giants, winning his last 10 starts against them. His last loss against the G-Men came in his rookie season in 2016. To put that in perspective, when Prescott last lost to the Giants, current Giants QB Daniel Jones was a freshman at Duke University.

Bills @ Jets

Bills QB Josh Allen LOVES Monday Night Football. In his 6 MNF games, he has thrown 18 touchdowns, and just 2 interceptions.
