Upon Further Review, The NFL Should Probably Just Let Saints QB Jake Haener Continue Taking PEDs

CBS -- The New Orleans Saints will be without rookie quarterback Jake Haener for the first six games of the 2023 regular season, as the Fresno State product was suspended six weeks for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy, per the league's transaction wire.

Listen. Far be it from me, or really any blogger on the internet, to comment on the physique of any professional athlete. But I mean…are we really worried about THIS guy taking PEDs?

Jake Haener looks like 98% of every dude you'd ever run into at a bar, maybe with just a little extra sass. The NFL is filled with some of the most freakishly athletic specimens that the human race has to offer. Guys who could legitimately break you in half if they got the chance. We're talking about the most physically gifted 1% of 1% in the world. Then you have Jake Haener who just seems like a really in shape dude.

I get that the NFL has a business to run with rules for everyone to follow. But…I mean…c'mon. We can leave a little wiggle room there for guys like Jake Haener. Let him take a few PEDs, just as a treat. Build the young man up a little so when the time comes that he actually has to see some NFL action, he doesn't get snapped like a twig out there.

Until he shows up after this 6 week suspension looking like Derek Carr, my man Jake Haener is innocent.

P.S. -- Yes, I'm aware there are other performance enhancing drugs out there besides steroids. But that's less funny to think about.

P.P.S. -- Ask Smitty if he's on the juice.
