Last Night Jose Altuve Hit Three Home Runs In Three Innings Against The Rangers As The Astros Re-Took First Place In The AL West

Not really a whole lot to add to this one. This was a huge game for the Houston Astros. They came into the night tied with the Seattle Mariners for the lead in the American League West. They were also only one game ahead of the Texas Rangers. I think it’s safe to say that that gap with the Rangers is about to get a bit wider.

Texas had to have come into this game feeling pretty good. They had their ace, Nathan Eovaldi, returning to the mound after a long stint on the IL. Houston is just doing what Houston does. When they’re at their best, they take people's souls.

Jose Altuve is so fucking good. I can't call him underrated because the guy has won an American League MVP and made 1 million All-Star teams, but he became the poster child for the Astro sign, stealing scandal, which didn't make any sense because he was great before any of that shit happened and he's been everybody bit as good since they got in trouble for it.

This year's Astros are unsurprisingly really good, but at points, they've been unable to recapture the magic that made them the toast of the American League over the last six seasons. That should scare opponents. They're still hanging around. If they can find their footing and get performances like what they've got tonight out of Altuve, they could easily repeat as World Series champions. It's also worth pointing out that Altuve went deep in his final at bat last night. So yeah, it's safe to say he's locked in.
