Petty Revenge: Alabama Is Only Giving Texas Upper Level Tickets For Their Game Saturday After The Longhorns Did The Same Thing Last Year

The Tuscaloosa News — Texas isn't in the SEC just yet, which means the SEC's regulation for tickets for visitors doesn't apply for the Alabama football matchup vs. the Longhorns this week at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

So, the Crimson Tide doesn't have to meet the SEC requirement of at least 2,000 visiting tickets located in the lower level of the stadium. And Alabama won't. All 5,000 visitor tickets, which include seats for the band, will be in the upper deck.

"We are able to reciprocate a similar seating arrangement to what we had last year in Austin," Alabama athletics director Greg Byrne told The Tuscaloosa News.

Live look at the Texas athletic department:

This is just peak college football pettiness. Don't get cute with your visiting ticket allocation if you know you're making a return trip the following year and the other school is under no obligation to give you any good seats. I believe the Golden Rule would apply here.

And I generally throw Alabama compliments around like manhole covers, but that's an outstanding quote from Greg Byrne. That's athletic director speak for, "Fuck around and find out."

Unfortunately, this beef will be forced to end with the schools' next meeting as conference foes due to the SEC's mandate that visiting schools be provided 2,000 lower level tickets. I would personally love if this just continued forever and became a dumb college football tradition — which we're losing rapidly — but alas, the Longhorns' next trip to Tuscaloosa will include an allotment in the lower level.

Not this Saturday, though.
