I Will Never, Ever, In A Million Years Get Sick Of Listening To Bryce Harper Talk About How Much He Loves The City Of Philadelphia

They clock in to play, and clock out the moment the game is over. Every once in a while you'll get a guy who is clearly passionate about the team he plays for, and wants to make sure the home crowd always has something to cheer about.
And then once in a generation, maybe even just once in a lifetime, you get an athlete who is so perfectly suited for the city he plays in that it feels like they were meant to be there their entire life. Where the blood, sweat and tears of that city are all the same ones coursing through his own system. A guy who just gets it. Bryce Harper is that guy.
It seems like every time someone puts a microphone in front of Bryce Harper, all he can do is talk about how much he loves Philly. And you know what? I wish they'd do it a helluva lot more often. I think every day in Philly should start with an address from Bryce Harper. Kind of like the Pledge of Allegiance. Every home and every building in the Delaware Valley area should have a portrait hanging on one of their walls.
I'm pretty sure that we, as a city, are aware of how fortunate we are to have a guy like this right now. There have been so many false prophets to come through this city over the years that we are physically unable to take a guy like Bryce Harper for granted anymore. He's not just trying to say the right things, he's the real thing. I mean that curtain call said everything you needed to know about the relationship between Bryce Harper and Philly.
He's had so many monster moments for this team. He's had so many great quotes about this city and fanbase. And at no point has it gotten any less sweet. It kicks so much ass each and every single time. Give the man a lifetime contract, keys to the city, and keys to everybody's house. Like he said, we're all family. If Bryce wants to drop in for dinner one night, he shouldn't have to knock on the front door.
The guy is out here hitting home runs for Philly sports talk radio callers, for crying out loud.

There's never been another athlete meant for a specific city anymore than Bryce Harper was meant for Philly. At the very least I'd be willing to call it a tie with David Ortiz and Boston. "This is our fucking city" will always play. But Bryce is right there, and it's only been a few years.
