Kyle McCord Has Officially Been Named Ohio State’s Starting QB

Well there you have it….. sort of?

Ryan Day named Kyle McCord the starting quarterback today after a long competition between McCord and Devin Brown. As noted from Coach Day, Devin Brown is going to play meaningful snaps which leads me to believe he‘s not fully committed to McCord and the door is still open for Brown to slide in and take the job. Maybe I’m wrong and he is just saying this because he knows Indiana is dog shit and the Buckeyes could beat them with my fat ass playing QB so he it‘s a great opportunity to get a look at both of them play in live action.

Coach Day mentions here McCord earned the job with his consistency and the ability to make the easy plays look easy over the last couple weeks of camp. This is what McCord needed to do to earn the job. He’s actually played some real snaps at tOSU (he started against Akron so take it with a grain of salt) and some garbage time as well, he’s been in the offensive system longer and it seems Day has a little more trust in him to make smart decisions.

The Buckeyes are in good hands in my opinion either way considering Ryan Day’s elite ability to coach QBs and the elite level of WR and RB talent surrounding them.

I give Kyle McCord a lot of credit for staying around and seizing his opportunity. He came in the same year as CJ Stroud and has sat three full years behind Justin Fields and CJ before getting the nod this season. In today’s college football landscape most kids would have left town the second he didn’t beat out CJ. Stroud for the gig in 2021. He’s showed a lot of heart and mental toughness to hang in there and I’m excited to see him ball out this season. He gets to reunite with his high school teammate and best WR in the country Marvin Harrison Jr. this Saturday and I can’t wait. I’ve got a feeling those two are gonna hook up for quite a few big plays this season. Go Bucks baby!

P.S. - Fuck Michigan. I can’t wait to drag my nuts across casual Dave’s face in November. Order will be restored.
