It's A New Week, Meaning A New Chance For Some Fire Gambling Picks

RECORD

59-97-2 (+0 units)

Yesterday was a bad day. We placed two bets, and neither of them hit. It seemed as though the Mariners would cover, but they gave up to late runs. They ultimately went on to beat the Kansas City Royals. The Mariners now have sole possession of first place in the American League West, but that didn't mean a whole lot for me yesterday because they didn't cover on the run line. I put some money on Marcus Semien to go deep. Home run props have been good to me this year, but much like everything at the Texas Rangers have touched over the last ten games, it turned to shit. We are back to where we started. We are at zero units for the year. We have just over a month left in the season. We can finish strong. We just have to take it one day at a time. Let's take a look at today's picks.

Phillies -1.5 (+140) against the Angels

It is strange to me how the Phillies have consistently been flying under the radar. Playing in the same division as the Atlanta Braves is probably a big reason for this. The Braves are going to steal a lot of team's thunder. But the Phillies find themselves in great standing. They've been one of baseball's best teams over the last several months, and they're going up against a Los Angeles Angels team that has proven themselves many times over to be a corpse. Lucas Giolito has been a mess since being acquired by the Halos. Taiwan Walker is going for the Phillies. He is by no means an ace, but the Phillies provide him with a lot of run support. When Walker pitches, the Phillies often win. Getting them at plus money on the run line feels like a bargain.

Astros ML (+110) against the Red Sox

I feel like the Astros loss on Friday against the Tigers may have been the kick in the ass that they needed. This is typically the time when they shine. From a gambling standpoint, getting the Astros as underdogs in any capacity is pretty rare. Cristian Javier is on the mound for Houston. He has been a mess for a while. But the Astros offense has woken up over the last few days. Alex Bregman is seeing the ball really well. Kyle Tucker continues to emerge as a superstar. Yordan Alvarez has not looked like himself since coming off the I.L. If there is currently a sleeping giant in baseball, it may very well be him. Chris Sale is going for the Red Sox. At this stage of his career, you just never know what to expect. Houston may be activating playoff mode at this point. They are only one game back of the Seattle Mariners in the division. Every game is big when you are in a tight, divisional race, and Houston shows up in big games.

Ha-Seong Kim to homer (+750) against the Cardinals

It scares me how much I like this home run prop. Ha-Seong Kim has been easily one of baseball's more underappreciated players this year. We have just over a month left in the season, and he already has a bWAR over six. I have had luck this year betting on certain players to go deep against Adam Wainwright. I don't know if Adam Wainwright has the ability to even toss a quality start at this point in his career. Kim isn't necessarily considered an elite power hitter, though he's going to be good for a 20+ home run season in 2023. He has a small sample size against Adam Wainwright, but his numbers have been elite. In seven plate appearances, he has two hits, and both of them are home runs. Waino is essentially batting practice at this point. If Kim takes him deep, we will have one hell of a day.
