Felix Bautista Has “Some Degree Of Injury To His UCL” And I Am Gutted

I apologize to Ben Verlander for all the tweets I had about him making a big deal of Shohei Ohtani's injury. This is awful. This is a kick right in the dick. This is the worst thing that could happen to the Baltimore Orioles in our lord's year of 2023. I am a wreck.

Felix Bautista has  been placed on the 15 day IL with some sort of damage to his UCL. No type of injury to the UCL is good obviously, but when it’s a guy like Felix who chucks 102 regularly it’s awful. It’s terrible. He’s the best closer in baseball and it isn’t close. He’s arguably one of the best pitchers in baseball. For it to happen seconds after he’s chucking 102 for strikes, he looked AWESOME last night, like insanely good. One stumble and that’s it, he clinches his hand and boom. That’s all she wrote. 

Tommy John surgery would be an absolute disaster for the O's. The one guy in the bullpen who had been trustworthy this year, the one guy who has been nails 99% of the time. This is a massive, massive blow. It can’t be understated how important he is to the team. I’m just gutted for him man. It’s terrible. If it is TJ he’s gone all this year and what, 3/4ths of next year? It’s a long road for a guy like him. 

But the Orioles can’t dwell on this. They can’t feel sorry. They’re 3 games up on Tampa for the division, they’re 31 games above .500, 80 wins, they have a division title to win. Closer by committee now. Danny Columbe, DL Hall, Yennier Cano, come on down baby. It’s a tough day but these Os ain’t stopping. They have a division title to win,
