'Rebel Moon' Looks Like More Of The Same Ole Zack Snyder Bullshit

When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, a mysterious stranger living amongst its villagers becomes their best hope for survival.

Zack Snyder is an interesting dude. He is a meathead that loves making big, loud CGI action with as much slo-mo as a studio will allow. He also has maybe the most fanatic fan base of any director on earth. These people were relentless in getting his cut of 'Justice League' release and go after any studio the moment one of his movies underperforms. They also flooded the vote for "Most cheer worthy moment", a one-time fan vote award at the oscars, so that 'The Flash entering the Speed Force' won. Yea, nobody else really knew what that was either. He also refuses to communicate through traditional social media, doing all his announcments through the social media app VERO. Yup, nobody knows what that is either. 

I respect him for establishing his lane and sticking to it. That also is maybe the biggest problem I have with this trailer, though. It looks like a lot of the same shit he always does (slo-mo, lens flare) and a lot of derivative stuff from successful sci-fi franchises (the chorus thing from Dune, the breather/suit thing from dune, the lightsabers, the space messiah). He also split this movie into two parts, which none of us were aware of, AND promised that there will be yet another "Snyder Cut" of this movie which will be an hour longer than the original. 

I know I sound super down on him but I'm a Snyder guy. Again, he has a lane but I just want it to get a little fresher! Something new! And yes, something original outside of an existing IP is great. But not if it just feels too similar to everything else. 

All that said, I'll still be there, on my couch, watching on opening day.
