The Official Teaser Was Released For "Good Burger 2" And My Heart Is Filled With Nostalgia

Forget "Oppenheimer" we officially have the movie event of 2023, and it's "Good Burger 2". It's been 26 years since the original "Good Burger" came out, and I'm still having trouble deciding whether or not I like it. I enjoy watching it. I laugh when I watch it, but I'm not sure if it's genuine laughter or if it's one of those so bad it's good things. 

"Good Burger" is very much a guilty pleasure for me. I think it's a guilty pleasure for almost any Nickelodeon kid from the late 90s or early 2000s. And while it's impossible to judge what the quality of a film will be based on a 35-second teaser, I was intrigued by what direction they would take this in. I think they're making the right decision by taking this in the goofiest route possible. The first "Good Burger" is legitimately one of the dumbest films I've ever seen, but it embraces its stupidity to the point where you have fun. It looks like they're trying to recapture the same magic with this one.

As I said, it's hard to take much out of a 35-second teaser trailer. My one question is, do Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson age? I feel like we take for granted Kenan Thompson's longevity. He's the longest-running cast member in the history of Saturday Night Live, and people my age knew them as the kid who was on "All That." He's had a crazy career.

Kel Mitchell went away for a really long time. I can't imagine that getting a roll in "Good Burger 2" is going to propel him to superstardom. I don't see anyone comparing this comeback performance to Mickey Rourke's in "The Wrestler" but we're talking about a streaming service movie here. Even if it's terrible, I think it'll be relatively inoffensive. The character of Ed in "Good Burger" is legitimately one of the stupidest human beings that ever just did. One of the funniest parts of that film is that the two main characters actually get committed at one point. It's the only realistic thing in "Good Burger." I'm actually laughing as I'm typing this out. I might have to rewatch this movie.

Say what you will, but "Good Burger" has weirdly endured. I think there's only a small section of people who remember it, but the people that remember it remember it fondly. The "All That" days were elite for people who grew up in my era. So I'm not counting down the days, but I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't somewhat excited for "Good Burger 2." I can't believe I said those words.
