Ian Garry Beat The Absolute Shit Out Of Neil Magny And Flipped Him Off The Whole Time
Ian Machado Garry took major issue with some of Neil Magny's comments at media day this week, where Magny claimed he'd give Ian a "fatherly whooping" at UFC 292....
"There’s like different levels to ass whoopings that come about […] There’s the whooping you give your son now like to kind of teach him life a little bit. Being a father, I’ve become quite accustomed to that kind of whooping now, and that’s what we’re looking forward to giving on Saturday."
Garry wouldn't let him get a word in at the presser after this, and brought up how morally wrong his quotes were at every turn, posting the clips all over social media for the world to see, and promised to torture Neil Magny in the octagon for this; and that's exactly what he just did....
I don't know if Magny came into the fight with a leg/knee/nerve issue or what, but the very first low kick of the fight from Garry hurt and dropped Magny, and he never fully recovered from that. Garry just hit leg kick after leg kick for three straight rounds, totally immobilizing Magny (who was slower than him to begin with), and allowing for him to unload combinations on the feet.
It felt like Garry could've finished the fight whenever he wanted to with leg kicks, but didn't want a finish like that, so he just played with his food for a while and took the decision win.
There was no love lost and zero respect shown during or even after the fight, either, with Garry constantly flipping Magny the bird throughout….
Pretty much to be expected when the build to the fight involved discussions about child abuse.
Post-fight, Garry respectfully called out Steven "Wonderboy" Thompson, which would be the PERFECT next matchup for him imo….
You've got two strikers that people almost never want to see matched up against grapplers here, both coming off wins, with Wonderboy ahead of Garry on the rankings, and the prospect vs veteran storyline is right there….it almost makes too much sense.
I'd love for the UFC to make that a five round main event in Ireland, as well - it's been waaaay too long since the UFC gave those fans a card. Now is the time!
