An Iowa Football Player Bet The Under In One Of The Hawkeyes' 2022 Games And Then Scored The Touchdown To Hit The Over
Iowa's gaming commission has been cracking down in the last few weeks and has brought to light dozens of college athletes in the state who were gambling on sports, some of which were even betting on their own games.
Betting on other sports is one thing, but betting on games you're involved in can obviously lead to some pretty problematic situations on the field. That's where former Iowa Hawkeyes wide receiver Arland Bruce IV found himself in a game against Northwestern last season.
Bruce bet under 37.5 in the game, which seems like a pretty good bet for someone who understood even better than most how unbelievably inept the 2022 Iowa offense was. Unfortunately for him, he found himself headed for the end zone and the Hawkeyes leading 26-7 with just over 5:00 to go. When he got up, he had turned his own bet into a loser.
If there's any silver lining to the fact this guy is never going to play college football again, at least we know he wasn't throwing games. He doesn't look like the most thrilled college football player I've ever seen after scoring a touchdown, but he still got the ball across the goal line.
While we obviously can't have players betting on their own games, the under in any Iowa game is usually going to be a good pick. Just a tough twist of irony here for Arland.
