'Warrior' Is The Hidden Gem, Badass Show You Have Been Looking For

During the Tong Wars in the late 1800s, Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy from China, immigrates to San Francisco and becomes a hatchet man for the most powerful tong in Chinatown.

On LCB, we've been doing these weekly "what we're watching' graphics just to let people know what we like and what we hate. For the last few weeks, I've had one name that's made the list every week since the 3rd season started: Warrior. This is a show run by Jonathan Tropper, who made the incredible show 'Banshee' for Cinemax and was shipped over to Max this season. It's based on an original concept written out by Bruce Lee before he passed (his daughter is a producer on the show). It features:

- Andrew Koji (Former stuntman that competed in Taekwondo and Shaolin kung fu)

- Joe Taslim (Former Judo competitor, starred in 'The Raid' and other great Indonesian action movies)

- Kieran Bew (Former fight choreographer, championship fencer)

- Dustin Nguyen (Practitioner of Muay Thai, Tae Kwon Do, Eskrima, and Jeet Kune Do)

- Rich Ting (1st degree Rich Ting Taekwondo blackbelt, trained in Jeet Kune Do  and Wing Chun)

- Olivia Cheng (Trained in Wushu, swordfighting and more)

- Dean Jagger (Former X-Games skater trained in Boxing and MMA)

- Mark Dacascos (Championship winning blackbelt in Wup Hop Kuen Do, trained in Muay Thai, Capoeira, and Wushu)

- Michael Bisping (HoF UFC fighter (small but very good fighting role))

And others that I missed that are practitioners and/or trained in combat sports. Why am I busting out these credentials? Because this show is about hand-to-hand combat, baby. Gangs vs Gangs. Chinese Immigrants vs Irish Immigrants. Criminals vs Cops. And in addition to that, it is actually a banger of a storyline. It plays like an old school western in how they shoot it + the music they use + the little serial adventures they go on. Plus it also takes place during the old west, albeit in San Fransisco.

I say all this just to reiterate that all of you should try out this show. In fact, let the fights do the talking.
