Double Play (aka Recrotchables) Is No More

(This blog is going to be all about a tiny and soon to be forgotten show but I think some of the behind the scenes stuff can be interesting. If you don't, here's a picture of me being compact and I hope you have a great day!)

Why would a monster hit show like Double Play go away? That's a stupid question because it was never a monster hit. It wasn't even a minor hit. But the people who did watch seemed to like it and it was an enjoyable show to do. Even when I had to watch movies like Eddie where Whoopi Goldberg plays the head coach of the Knicks.

Once Brandon moved, the show shifted and it was fun to have guests on but that wasn't something I wanted to do long term with rotating people. Since the show was on the Lights Camera Barstool network, I talked to Jeff D Lowe about that and he suggested shorter content. So I'll have a new show on the network next month that I think/hope/pray will be good.

A fair series of questions would be: "Why do a show with someone you know is going to move? Are you a total idiot? Why are you so fucking skinny?" I'll answer them in order.

-It was my second day at Barstool last July when I brought the idea to Jeff about doing a sports movie podcast but I didn't know who to do with. He said Brandon had been wanting to do that exact type of show for years. Brandon wound up being super busy with college football so we didn't tape an episode for a few months. So I knew we'd have a small window but not as small as I originally thought.

-Sometimes I am. I was yesterday when I came in just before 10 the day after Dave bought the company. That was pretty stupid and I can be such an idiot that I didn't even know I was doing anything wrong in the moment. As far being an idiot about the show, we did change the format after we taped four episodes. We went from a more standard review and talk about a single sports movie to doing two sports movies (one good and one bad). So we had to scrap those four episodes and start over.

-I don't know? I've always been really skinny even when I was in kindergarten. I am a picky eater so I am sure that doesn't help. I've tried to gain weight by eating a lot of calories in a day but it never sticks. I'd like to gain some weight if only because if I ever got seriously sick, I'd be in big trouble quick.

Doing Double Play was a lot of fun and I had a good time doing all of these. It was fun yelling at Brandon, learning about wrestling with KB and the MCU line about The Ringer from Nick was right up there with the hardest I've laughed working here. (Nothing tops this moment for me though)

Thanks to anyone who watched and hopefully you'll like the new show in September.
