Devin White Opens Up About His Trade Request And Says He Was a Little Bit Selfish
Kevin C. Cox. Getty Images.Back in April, Buccaneers star Linebacker Devin White requested a trade from the team.
That request didn't go too far as the Buccaneers had him under contract for another season. From before the time he was drafted, White said he wanted to be a $100 million dollar Linebacker.
But nothing materialized in the past few months as the Bucs were unwilling to part with the speedy Linebacker and White reported to camp on time with the rest of his teammates.
But today was White's first media availability since his trade request and he addressed his trade request.
Agreement? My guess would be that the agreement would be that if White's play was more consistent this season then the team would make him one of, if not the highest paid Inside Linebackers in the league. But that is not a given after White experienced a dip in play last season.
When pressed further, White was asked if he regretted making the request.

We'll see how it plays out this year for a Buccaneers team that should still have a very strong defense in a division with some sub-par Quarterback play across the board. White, a super fast, destroyer of angles, will have two games vs. Derek Carr this season.
When White is on his game, he's as good as there is in the NFL.
But if he can get back there and stay there remains the question this season. As a Bucs fan, I'm hoping he does and then gets paid accordingly.
