NY POST- Lola Consuelos can’t catch a break. The 22-year-old has walked in on her parents, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, having sex twice — and both times were on her birthday. The longtime “Live” co-host joked in Wednesday’s episode of her “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast that the first time she gave her daughter “the ultimate horrible birthday present” was during a vacation to Italy when Lola was 8.
Ripa and Consuelos, both 52, had not “had a lot of alone time” on the trip and decided it was “now or never” after their three children went to bed. “I encouraged him to lock … [the] door, and he tells me he did,” the journalist recalled. “All I know is, at a certain point, I made eye contact with my 8-year-old daughter who is standing at the foot of the bed.” As Lola told her mom she was “thirsty,” Consuelos “vanished.”
There are a lot of fears people have in their lives these days. Deaths, aliens, ghosts, ordering some fast food after a long day only for the drive-thru folks to forget an imperative item, and the list goes on and on and on. Yet one thing that truly may top all of these things is not only the pure image in your mind of your parents having sex, it's the REAL LIFE image you get if you're somehow unlucky enough to the act actually happening which is EXACTLY what seemed to have happened to Lola Consuelos not once, but twice in her life on her birthday no less! And don't even get me started on the eye contact. That is the stuff of nightmares. Not what ya wanna see- granted the first time she was only 8-years-old so as Kelly it seemed like she barely even noticed and just vanished though the next time being 16? That's gotta be ROUGH.
The 16-year-old reaction seemed like how any of us would react should this happen to us while we're in high school.
“The same thing happened eight years later on her 16th birthday,” Ripa continued. “Same exact thing. She threw the door open.” Lola had a different reaction the second time around, saying, “‘Oh, my God, life is over. I used to see in color, and now everything is gray. How could you do this to me? What is wrong with you people?'” Ripa, who first told the story of Lola’s 16th birthday in June 2019, concluded, “The moral of the story is she never learned to knock. Hopefully, by the time she turns 24, we’ll be done having sex.”
Everything she used to see in color and now she's seeing in gray is the perfect reaction. An experience like that has gotta be the one true B.C./A.D. moment of your life. Anyway now that all their kids are 20+ you gotta respect Ripa's newfound thinking here. You gotta respect the knock nowadays. It's a learning curve.
In January, the “Riverdale” alum told “Live with Kelly and Mark” viewers that he had warned Lola about knocking when she moved back into their home during her final semester of school.
“At this point,” Ripa chimed in, “anything you walk in on is your problem.”
