What On Earth Is That Idiot Marty Mush Blabbering On About?
I'll be honest--I don't find myself clicking on too many blogs authored by Marty Mush. But every so often he feels the need to talk about Philly sports, so I'll see what the Mush Man has to say.
God do I wish I just left this one unread. Because what in the heck are we even talking about here?
For starters, it appears Marty's main crux with Jalen Hurts using a photo of him after the Super Bowl LVII loss as his lock screen is that Marty doesn't understand internal motivation. Which doesn't seem all too surprising. But after that, notorious NFL insider and analyst Mr. Mush goes on to make a litany of moronic claims such as,
"The Eagles also aren't going to win the Super Bowl for a long time"
"Jalen is going to have a down year and all Eagles fans will freak out"
"The Eagles fans will rip him apart once he goes on a decline and it is going to be sad to watch"
No evidence to back up these claims. No reasoning behind them at all, actually. Just Marty's gut feeling. Keep in mind, this is the same Marty Mush who spent all of last season sucking of Baker Mayfield. I wouldn't trust Marty's gut as far as I could throw Glenny's (sorry for the ricochet shot, Glen).
The Eagles won the NFC last year and are running back essentially the same offense. They lost a few contributors on defense, but also went out and grabbed the best player in the draft with Jalen Carter and added Nolan Smith. They internally promoted their new offensive coordinator, and letting Jonathan Gannon walk is addition by subtraction as far as a D-Coordinator goes. How any of that adds up to "the Eagles aren't going to win the Super Bowl for a long time" is beside me.
And I guess we'll ignore the fact that Jalen Hurts has only gotten better every single year since the year Tua replaced him in the National Championship game at Alabama. Every single year this guy improves. First it was his arm strength, then it was his decision making, and this summer he has been working on his accuracy. He is as driven as anybody in this league, and that's all thanks to his self motivation to be the best. Is he going to have back-to-back MVP finalist seasons? I don't know. Maybe. But either way, he's not going to have a "down" year. The man simply works too hard, but all Marty knows about Jalen Hurts is that he got benched in a National Championship game 6 years ago.
And as far as the Eagles fans ripping Jalen Hurts apart once he goes on a decline? Well shouldn't Marty be busy ripping the New York Yankees right now? Last place in the AL East, and the only thing he's written about New York baseball in the past month was a blog trying to troll the Mets. Yikes.
TL;DR: Marty is an idiot. Go Birds.
