MASSIVE HEAD KICK KNOCKOUT ON THE UFC 291 PRELIMS

HOOOOLY SHIT!

I just blogged the first three finishes from this UFC 291 card, and thought to myself, "I don't know if they can keep this pace up tonight!" - but Roman Kopylov certainly had no issues with that.

After weathering the storm from Claudio Ribeiro in Round 1, Kopylov perfectly set up this head kick for himself in the second. Much like Leon Edwards' head kick knockout over Kamaru Usman in this very building in Salt Lake City, Kopylov threw a feint that got Ribeiro to drop his guard, creating a lane for that kick to come over the top. Then, as soon as foot hit face, Ribeiro was seeing stars.

Kopylov landed an extra shot for good measure, too, thanks to the ref not recognizing that this person is knocked out....

Juuuust a bit late on that stoppage! Oh well!

We can only hope that Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier live up to the violence we've already seen on the prelims in the BMF Championship fight later tonight. Something tells me they won't have too much trouble with that task.
