Last Night's Orioles-Yankees Game Was An Instant Classic That Had Everything You Could Ever Want In A Baseball Game

What a scene at Camden Yards last night that ended after midnight with Anthony Santander hitting a MONSTER shot almost to Eutaw Street for the 1-0 win over the Yankees. 2 and a half hour rain delay, game ending past midnight and the yard was STILL packed, file that under "things you love to see."

It really was an incredible game that gave us two great pitching performances. Gerrit Cole was his usual self going 7 innings, giving up 3 hits, 5 Ks and 0 runs. Grayson Rodriguez has been a different dude since coming back from AAA. He showed us his best start in his young career going into the 7th for the first time with 6 and 1/3rd innings, 3 hits, 2 walks, and 4 Ks. Went toe-to-toe with Cole and didn't blink once. 0-0 going into the bottom of the 9th and Tony Taters had enough. Sent us home with the Orioles 63rd win of the year. It did get me thinking...hitting a walk-off homer has to be the coolest thing to do in sports right? I mean just look at this scene. What is better than that?

It's a walk-off and it isn't even close. So damn cool.

It was also the return of Adam Jones to Camden Yards for the first time since his last game as a Bird in 2018. He was back in a big way as the became the first celebrity Mr Splash for the night. He was giving out pies, spraying the hose during every pitch, he didn't give a damn he just wanted to have some fun and no one had more fun than AJ10 last night. Just an incredible night all around that happened to fall on Mo Gaba Day, the 3 year anniversary of our friend and Baltimore die hard fan passing away. No doubt in my mind Mo would be going nuts for this Orioles team and he'd have stayed away until the very last out last night watching Tony hit that walk-off.

What a special night at the ball park, I don't know what else you could want in a baseball game. Fantastic pitchers duel, late inning heroics, and Adam Jones smacking a pie into someones face. What a damn night, now let's go win a series today. See you at Pickles.
