The Orioles Broadcast Team Deserves A Ring For Reverse Jinxing Bryce Harper's Swing Back To Life
Tim Nwachukwu. Getty Images.Bryce Harper came back from Tommy John surgery wayyyyyyy ahead of schedule. His swing, however, is still a little further behind. He just hasn't been murdering baseballs at the rate of which we've come accustomed to seeing Bryce Harper do. Slugging percentage is down and he only had 4 homers heading into last night's game.
None of this matters until the playoffs, anyway, but it sure would be nice to see Bryce Harper heat up a little before then. And if there's one group of people who deserve all the credit in the world for getting Bryce's swing back to being one of the most lethal in the biz, it's the bozos in the Orioles broadcast booth for reverse jinxing the heck out of this at-bat last night.
"It's that same recognizable, violent upper-cut swing by Bryce Harper. But it's not the same quality of contact…he's just not barreling up balls"
That's exactly what this team needed. I mean it was the very next pitch. Maybe if it was the next at-bat, you could make the argument this was just a coincidence. But the very next pitch? No chance. That's a shift in the universe from the baseball gods. They heard that call on the broadcast and immediately flipped the switch.
This man just loves to touch all the bases. Whether it's a casual jog around the track after obliterating a 396' dinger, or running a hundred miles per hour to score from 1st in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game.
Certified ball player. Thank god for Bryce Harper. Thank god for the Orioles broadcast team. And thank god for the daycare.
