Let's Not Forget Jim Tressel Lost His Job And Was Banned From Coaching For The Same Thing Jim Harbaugh Just Got A Slap On The Wrist For
Made false statements to the NCAA investigators. Hmmmmm....where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, when Jim Tressel literally did the same thing back in 2010. Forget the cheeseburger Harbaugh bought, and forget the tattoos the Ohio State players acquired. What these coaches both got in trouble for was lying to the NCAA. Assuming the punishments handed down are the same, correct? Let's compare:
Jim Tressel - Forced to resign from perhaps the best team in the country with Terrelle Pryor at QB, given a FIVE YEAR show clause penalty by the NCAA, and got fucking suspended SIX GAMES in the fucking NFL when he tried to be a consultant for the Colts
Jim Harbaugh - misses the first 4 high school football games of the season for Michigan
Does he have to miss the Homecoming Dance too?
This is utterly disgusting. And I don't even care about what Harbaugh did. Fuck the NCAA. But my God, are we all on the same page that Jim Tressel was perhaps the most wrongly treated person in all of humanity? Do we remember this Sports Illustrated cover??
Holy shit I don't know if I'm laughing or crying right now. Look how serious that cover is. "How Deep It Went" like this wasn't over trading memorabilia for tattoos. And his career essentially ended over something we're now basically allowing free of charge. The fact of the matter, in all honesty, is that Jim Tressel died so Jim Harbaugh could live.
While we are talking about people acting holier than thou, let's not forget this tweet that Harbaugh had back in 2015.
Man do I love the internet. Can someone get @OldTakesExposed on the line? Because I think this one might be worth a retweet.
For those of you unfamiliar with the time period of this tweet, here's the story:
- Four Star RB Mike Weber out of Detroit commits to Brady Hoke and Michigan
- Brady Hoke's fat ass gets fired
- Mike Weber becomes the first big head-to-head recruiting battle between Harbaugh and Urban Meyer
- Mike Weber chooses to sign with Ohio State
- The next day, Ohio State's RB coach goes to the Chicago Bears, and Weber tweets he's "hurt as hell"
- Weber's high school coach says Weber was recruited under "false pretenses" and insinuates that Urban Meyer might not be allowed back at Cass Tech anytime soon
- Harbaugh then proceeds to tweet this, a clear shot at Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes
All is fine and dandy, and completely fair of Harbaugh, as long as he is actually the man of high character and morals that he portrays to be up on that high horse he's on. But it turns out he's not! Jimmy, those who live in glass houses should not throw stones! And is thou shou not lie not in the 10 Commandments? You would think a Michigan Man of God like Jim Harbaugh would know that.
Fuck the NCAA.
