If You're At A Urinal Next To Another Guy, Is It Ok To Fart?

A question as old as time - Did you know urinals were invented in 1866?! I would've thought way later! So a question that's probably over 150 years old: Is farting when you're standing next to another guy at a urinal an acceptable thing to do? It's happened to me my fair share of times where someone else will do it while I'm there. It'll almost always elicit a quick giggle out of me without any eye contact made, but I recently got to thinking - is it gross in the first place? Why is someone putting me in that position? Is it viewed as ok by society?

But then again, if you can't fart in a bathroom, where can you fart?!

Are you next to a buddy? A co-worker? A stranger? How bad does this batch of turd air smell?

So what is the societal answer? I decided to the Twitter X streets to find out.

A fairly decisive win for yes, perfectly acceptable to fart when there is someone next to you, but I wouldn't call it a blowout. Over 2,000 of the 5,500+ people that voted said it was very gross and rude. 

While I can see how it's a little gross, I do think it's pretty ok in the bathroom, because after all, it's a bathroom! It's not like we're in a library. People poop there! There is probably a guy in the stall grunting with veins popping out of his head, so a little toot isn't hurting anybody. However, if it is a lingerer and it smells really bad, like you had 10 beers and oysters the night before, you deserve a square pop in the nose.
