Gunnar Henderson Has Turned Into An Absolute Must See Baseball Player

It's every night with this kid. Gunnar Henderson has turned into a bonafide superstar right in front of our eyes here in Baltimore. Literally, every night it's a play like this. The one above happened and I was speechless. It's such an incredible play just to make the catch....and then the throw. Are you kidding me with that? 86.9 MPH throw on the hop up to double up the runner. I just can't stop gushing about that throw. That is an absolutely unreal play by a kid who is 22 years-old. 22. What were you doing at 22? Not making insane double plays like this in a huge game. Look at the emotion from Grayson. Look at the emotion from Gunnar after the play. Inject that so far into my veins. He's the best player on the best team in the American League. The kid is truly unbelievable and such a joy to watch play baseball every day.

If that play isn't up to your standards let me run it back to Friday night and this amazing, stop drop and roll play by Gunnar. Heck of a play to get Randy Arozarena at first. Not many shortstops in baseball who make that play from where he started at. And to make an accurate throw? Sheesh.

Or maybe you want to see the game ending double play where he threw the ball 86 MPH on a rope to get the runner at first? It's not an easy flip after Adam Frazier couldn't get the ball out of his glove. But again Gunnar showed why he's a special player. 86 on a dot to end it. The throw again is insanely impressive. What a way to end it and put the O's in first place. Oh, and he was also moved over to short for defensive reasons, so the guy is doing it at every position. PS. It's a great call by Kevin Brown and Ben McDonald too.

Putting this play in here with the rest of these plays almost feels unfair. It's such a good play by a rookie but it almost seems routine for him. Super tough play in a close divisional game and the 22 year-old has the balls to pull off a play like this. He's really reminding me of Manny Machado more and more everyday.

But maybe the best play of this whole thing was Gunnar turning this double into a triple. Smokes it down the left field line and Randy comes over and kind of lallygags once he gets the ball. Gunnar already has a double because of his speed and he turns it into a triple strictly because the third baseman was so checked out after Randy lobbed it in. That is a game changing play, and it turned out to be. He scored one pitch later and it helped lead the Os to a big win. This isn't a play that a rookie makes, an unreal read to see that the Rays weren't paying attention and he took advantage. Talk about playing with your hair on-fire.

By the way….all of these plays have happened within the past like 4 days. This isn't as season highlight tape, it's 4 games. And I didn't even include the big insurance homer he hit 430 feet on Wednesday. If you follow baseball you know the name Gunnar Henderson. You're about to start knowing his name even if you aren't an obsessed baseball fan. This kid is a god damn stud and you all are in a world of trouble.
