Twitter Announces They Will Now Pay You Simply For Tweeting In Their New Ad Revenue Sharing System
So Twitter just announced today they're paying people just for tweeting in its new ad revenue split. I've been against most of Elon's decisions, including that stupid rate limit shit where you could only view 600 tweets a day, but this is a massive win. Creators like MrBeast have shown they're getting over $25,000 a month just by clicking tweet. He doesn't need that money, but your regular Joe tweeting through his shitty cubicle job definitely does. Here's the criteria to be eligible according to Twitter:
To be considered eligible for creator ads revenue sharing you must:
- Be subscribed to Twitter Blue or Verified Organizations
Have at least 5M impressions on your posts in each of the last 3 months.
Pass human review for Creator Monetization Standards.
This seems reasonable to me. 5 million may sound like a lot, but one viral tweet a month and there you go. Even just replying to some famous people's tweets will likely get you there. Sure, you probably aren't gonna get paid if you're live tweeting the Mets and spamming everyone's timelines who couldn't give less of a fuck (sorry Meek Phil and Tank), but this is better than getting nothing. Long gone are the days where your mom can yell at you for sitting on social media all day, because now there's a bag to be made!
"This is part of our effort to help people earn a living directly on Twitter" is a sentence I never thought I'd hear in 2023, but here we are. All the social media apps are just focused on having consumers spend as much possible time on their respective platforms, and they'll pay a pretty penny to creators helping them do that. Head of Barstool social media Bald Paul always says there's no money to be made on Twitter, yet it seems like it's the only platform our employees use sometimes. Elon has now thrown a reverse uno, so maybe those Mean Girl clips that always go dummy viral are worth even more now. With all that being said, I haven't tweeted in years, and don't plan to, so consider me just the messenger in this situation.
