I Don't Care If It's The USMNT's JV Team Playing In A Tournament Like The Gold Cup, You Can't Fucking Lose To Panama
Well that sucked. Embarrassing, pathetic, all that stuff. I don't care if it's our C team (at best) going up against Panama's normal squad. It's still fucking Panama. We're still the United States. I don't even want to hear the cliches that anything can happen in one game. Oh it went to PK's where it's a guessing game.
You know what? Fine. I'm a fan who prefers winning, even in a JV Tournament like the Gold Cup actually is. I still don't understand why we have the Gold Cup two weeks after the Nations League involving the same countries and then throw in Qatar. Quick, try to explain that to me besides money. But back to this specific match. It sucked. That's the only way to put it. We looked like shit after almost scoring 30 seconds into the thing.

That was basically our high point until the 105th minutes. Long ass time to feel like the worst team on the field. But if there's a positive here, well, I can find two. 1) I still think 19-year old Cade Cowell is going to be a damn good player for us. 2) If Gregg has a brain and eyes he now knows who the fuck not to let play for our A team or even our B team going forward. Guys like Sands, Cowell, Vazquez, Ferreria, Jones, sure. Let them have a shot and let's see what they turn into. They were all fine. I've seen enough Roldan and those sort of guys in my life. They had their run.
Again, we were LUCKY to get it to extra time. Panama had two goals turned away to offside:
Then in extra time we gave up an easy ass goal because of miscommunication. If you're going to step up and go high line, make sure the entire group of backs know that. Pretty sure we all were taught that at like U-8, U-10 level at the oldest.

We actually were able to make it to PKs because Jesus Ferreira turned into the greatest goal scorer in Gold Cup history this run:

Yeah, I know Matt Turner was there and really our only A type player. But he already had his heroics last match in the PKs. Ultimately Roldan missed in round 6 before Panama finished us:
Whatever. I know it's not our A team or even our B team. But after rehiring Gregg Berhalter, I wanted at least a sweep of Nations League and Gold Cup. You can't have this sort of shit happen, no matter who is out there.
