Let Him Cook: Kai Sotto Wants To Be The First Born-And-Raised Filipino In The NBA And The Magic Won't Play Him In Summer League

There's not much to cheer about if you're an Orlando Magic fan. Sure, a young core, and pretty-good first round draft picks in Anthony Black and Jett Howard, but there's no trophy coming through Amway Center anytime soon. In comes an undrafted 7'2 Filipino basketball legend whose lifelong goal has been to become the first Filipino born-and-raised player in the NBA. Just look at his highlight tape:

Sotto is an electric factory type of player and he's got the support of an entire nation of 113+ million behind him. The Magic decided to give him a shot this year for their summer league roster, and seemingly got behind him with tons of posts on their socials that this would in fact be a Sotto Summer. One problem — they haven't played him yet through two games, even in a blowout loss last night to the Pacers with the crowd screaming WE WANT SOTTO:

What's the point of the summer league if you won't give guys a shot? Don't they remember Tacko Fall and how loud the arena got every time he checked in? Not sure that really worked that well since he's still playing in the Summer League for the Cavs, but you gotta give the guy a shot! He's already proven to play well in his only game against an NBA team in preseason last year:

It's kind of funny that the only buzz the Magic have generated this summer is from this kid. Twitter now thinks they're just using him for clout because everything he touches goes viral, and they've spent weeks capitalizing on that. Clickbaiting a player for the support of a whole nation is some diabolical work and I hope they let Kai touch the floor and let him cook soon.
