Taylor Lautner Is The Best Ex Boyfriend In The World
It was a crazy weekend for the Swifties. On Friday, Speak Now (Taylor's Version) was released and it was, as expected, perfection. There's a little bit of discourse online saying that we don't feel the angst and emotion behind the songs this time around, but I've done some thinking. Maybe we don't feel it as strongly because we've grown, and we know those things aren't the end of the world anymore? Like, maybe our 20 year old selves would scream and cry. Now, we cry because it's nostalgia for feelings we once had. I'm sure if we were still going through it the same way, we'd feel the same again.
ANYWAY. I can't break down the new vault track songs just yet because honestly, I've been spending so much time listening to the original record. I've said it a million times now, but Speak Now was when my fandom for Taylor went from casual to "I need to be this woman." Every song is a hit and I can't get enough. That being said, "I Can See You" is my favorite vault track at the moment. What a coincidence - Taylor happens to put out a music video for this exact song, starring Joey King and her ex boyfriend, TAYLOR LAUTNER.
Yes, Jacob from Twilight. Sharkboy. For those who don't know, Taylor and Taylor dated during the time of her writing Speak Now. Back to December is about Taylor, which is basically an apology song for how she treated him. He's our favorite ex, and now, he and his wife (also named Taylor) are our besties.
This past weekend at Taylor's show in Kansas City, she premiered the music video starring Taylor, Joey and Pressley Cash and then brought them all out on stage. Joey and Pressley were both in Taylor's original video for "Mean" 13 years ago, so it was fun to see some familiar faces. The music video is full of hidden clues and head nods, but basically centers around Taylor and Joey breaking Speak Now Taylor out of the "vault." It's really cute, I'll include it at the end.
The best part of all this, was when Taylor Lautner came out onto the stage, and did an UNPLANNED back flip. Which, of course, is a nod to a scene he did with Taylor for the movie Valentines Day:
Truly amazing. It's so weird to think that people can actually grow and change and still love each other in a platonic way after being through so much together. Kind of inspiring!!! Even sweeter were Taylor's words when he got on stage:
Thank you to Taylor Lautner and to all of the GROWN MEN OUT THERE who know how to be cool.
