Completing One Single Forward Pass Against An NFL Defense With 30 Chances Is Extremely Doable Despite What The Haters/Pro Bowl Safeties May Say

These hypotheticals came out the other day and people were up in arms. Could you gain 5 yards on 10 carries in an NFL game? Could you score 15 points in an NBA game? The questions varied greatly in degrees.

10 yards on 5 carries? Definitely! I'm 6'3! Let me just run a QB sneak and get 25% of my body length each time! If I've got a good Offensive Line this should be pretty easy as long as you believe in yourself.

15 points in an NBA game? Now that's insane. Getting up 15 shots would be incredibly difficult against actual NBA defenders.

But then one came along that took the cake.

30 pass attempts is an insane number. The way this question in phrased makes it sound like you're playing an actual NFL game, in which case you're not just throwing. The offense is running the ball in what would likely be an extremely conservative approach. If that's the case and playaction passes are in play, this is an EASY yes.

Now I am not a professional athlete. Even though I am the Yak champion at Roofball and have near pinpoint accuracy on some throws.

I thought this was an outrageous question given that most NFL Quarterbacks complete 60% of passes, 3% seemed more than feasible for a civilian. But then an certain NFL All-Pro weighed in and thought I was a buffoon for having confidence in my abilities.

Now Justin Simmons is an absolute terror on the field. He is a Pro Bowl Safety and has had 20 INTs in the past four seasons alone.

That being said, he is dead wrong here. I would be smart here. I'm not taking 7-step drops trying to dissect the defense for a bomb. I'm playing it safe and looking for very quick 1-on-1s and putting the ball somewhere where my Receiver can hopefully make a play. I'm sure I'd throw probably double digit interceptions. But there is NO WAY I'd be held without a completion on 30 attempts. 10 is a much more realistic number given the fact that you're not just dropping back every time.

Give me an RB on an angle route against an LB. Give me a quick slant against a zone defense. Give me a short fade or a back shoulder ball. Things where Safeties have no real impact on a play and trust my Receivers to get the job done. This would be an easy win for the #Cheahhive. If Justin Simmons wants to get back up his claim, I'd be happy to show up in Denver and complete one pass against a good Broncos defense in practice. You better be damn sure it'll be in my first 30 attempts.
