Dennis Rodman Is Out Of His Mind After Suggesting That If Larry Bird Played In Today's Era, He'd Be In Europe

Alright, now wait a goddamn minute here. 

You can tell me a lot of things when it comes to the Boston Celtics and some of their players. You want to go the JJ Redick route and say Bob Cousy and Bill Russell were only good becuase they played against plumbers? OK, you certainly wouldn't be the only one to say that, even if it's an insane angle. You want to tell me that in fact David Wesley was actually not the point guard of the future? Sadly, I'd have to agree. You want to tell me it was time to trade Marcus Smart? I'm not going down that road right now.

But at some point, we have to put our foot down and for me, that starts and stops with any and all Larry Bird slander. That quote from Rodman sure sounds to me like a certain someone is still upset about Larry Bird busting that ass on several occasions, because how on earth can you think that this player wouldn't translate in today's era?!?!

When it comes to the idea of Jokic, let's also not forget what one of the greatest basketball minds in existence said about him 3 years ago

but let's focus more on the era part. You're telling me Larry gets to play in the NBA with 2023 rules, and the suggestion would be he would have to play in Europe???? Not only that, but he gets to benefit from all the medical advancement/treatment and training? I know Dennis Rodman's brain is fried, but to suggest that there is "no way" that Bird survives this era of NBA basketball is simply so outrageous I'm not sure Rodman even understands what he is saying. 

Larry's mental warfare alone would break the confidence of like 90% of today's NBA. Larry didn't even try and shoot 3PA in his career (1.9 3PA) and he still shot 37.6%. Now what do you think happens if he plays in an era where NBA players try from deep? It's the same shit we would hear about MJ. Something tells me the best competitors in the history of the sport would do everything possible in their power to master an aspect of the game that was important to the era in which they now played.

On some level, I'd like to thank Rodman for such an outrageous quote. After the last few days, I needed a laugh and frankly I'm struggling to think of something funnier than suggesting LARRY BIRD could not thrive in the NBA in 2023.
