For Some Strange Reason David Freese Declined The Cardinals Invite Into Their Team Hall Of Fame

Imagine the fans of a franchise voting you into their team Hall of Fame, a team that you helped propel to the World Series Championship with some of the biggest plays in franchise history. Imagine that, it's a great honor right? Well, not for David Freese. The former World Series MVP with the Red Birds gave a nice "thanks but no thanks" to the Cardinals faithful when he respectfully declined his former team's invite to be inducted into their Hall of Fame.

The statement above is just so bizarre. For one, it's a fake, made up thing by the team. Like, they put your name on a plaque, or on one of the decks in the park and your picture somewhere on a wall. It's not a big deal, just say "yeah, sure" go to the park for a day, see your old teammates, sign some autographs and don't pay for anything. It's not that hard dude. You were a HUGE part in that championship run and were the god damn World Series MVP. I'd say the fans have their fingers on the pulse here when they say you belong in this fake, made up Hall of Fame. Now you slap them in the face by saying no because you just don't want to?

Freese is overthinking this way too much and making it into a way bigger deal than it has to be. They aren't asking him to be the GM, the manager, the mascot, they just want to honor him for like 20 minutes before a game.

He doesn't really give one specific reason for turning down the invite, but if you read between the lines he is basically saying that he wouldn't feel comfortable being up there with all the other Cardinals greats. Dude, you're David Freese, milk those moments for anything you can. You just earned yourself a lifetime pass to come to the park whenever you want, get paid to do appearances, sign autos, all because you were a pretty good ballplayer when it mattered most for your team.  Take pride in that, take honor in that, especially since the FANS put you in!

I think this makes him look like a jerk. If he really didn't want to be included he should have asked that his name be taken off the ballot beforehand. Simple as that. He mentioned that he was thinking about the process before the voting results were final, just finish it before it starts and ask that your name be taken off. I don't know where this "high and mighty" attitude comes from. KFC had a great point....JASON ISRINGHAUSEN is in the Cardinals Hall of Fame!!!! No offense to JI but he isn't a World Series MVP. He was a monster in that postseason for the Cardinals, he should just accept this honor and thank the fans. That is what it comes down to, it's a fan thing. It's all fake, it's not a cash grab by the team, it's a fan thing. Super bizarre if you ask me, and unless he has some underlying beef with the team or front office, I don't get it. The fans want to honor you and you basically flip em the bird and say "nah".
