Team Guy: The Reds Fan Who Caught Elly De La Cruz's First Homer Negotiated Signed Stuff For His Friends In Order To Give The Ball Back

The moment Elly De La Cruz hit that homer, everyone did the smart thing. We all wondered what the going price is going to be for him to get that ball back. It's a weird thing. Baseball is the only sport where you catch a milestone homer and then get all the power to give it back to the person who achieved said milestone. Granted, this was a monster homer:

Absurd. Hubbs talked about Elly De La Cruz here:

But this blog is specific to the negotiations because the kid who caught the ball might be a genius. Sure, it doesn't seem like much. But that's until you realize he now holds all the power over his friends. He got them a signed ball, which they can do whatever they want. Sell it? Great. That money is now due to him. Hold onto it because you love Elly? Fine. You got that signed ball all because of him.

He has the upper hand in any negotiation with his friends now.

Clearly this guy is younger because he didn't immediately go for money. Always start with money. But then again I'm thinking of just paying for day care every single goddamn week for the next couple years with two kids. Actually I'd try to just negotiate free day care. But if I'm younger? This is 100% the play. These are pals that'll be around him forever. He gets to hold this over their head forever and there's no better feeling in friendship than that. That or just negotiate that Elly De La Cruz now has to be your friend.
