Fresh Off Giving Up 40+ Points In Back-To-Back Games, Ohio State's Defensive Coordinator Says The Buckeyes Could Have The Best Defense In The Country

Can't say it.

Everyone, well I guess not everyone, but most people know there's certain things that you simply cannot say out loud, and this is one of them. I'm the biggest Ohio State dick rider you'll find and I wouldn't even think about talking like that. Best defense in the COUNTRY? The last two times the country saw The Ohio State Buckeyes play, they gave up 42 to Georgia and 45 to Michigan. I mean, the defense was so bad that it led to comical exchanges like this:

Because remember, Donovan Edwards ran for not one (75 yards) but two (85 yards) long touchdowns IN THE FOURTH QUARTER OF THE GAME. Not to be confused with Cornelius Johnson who had touchdowns of 69 yards and 75 yards in the same game. Four 70 yard touchdowns in the biggest game of the year. And then came Georgia where obviously the refs handling of the Marvin Harrison Jr situation was the #1 reason we lost but the defense was far and away #2! 533 yards and a blown two touchdown 4th quarter lead. And we're uttering best defense in the country after Spring Practice?

And here's the thing: he could be right, right? Like, Ohio State's entire roster is full of 5-star recruits. Jack Sawyer and JTT were BOTH top 5 recruits in the entire country two years ago, meaning we SHOULD have the best defensive ends in all of college football. I mean, they're both projected to go 1st round in the draft next year. So Jim Knowles is right: we could have the best defense. But there was absolutely no lack of talent on last year's team either, so what's the problem?

Exactly.

Jim Knowles better hope we have the best defense in the country this year, that's all I'm saying...
