Nothing Better Than A Royal Flush Beating Quad Queens Your First Hand At The WSOP

Some people will go their entire lives and not make quads in a live tournament. You might see it at the table, you might hear about it from a dealer, but for it to happen to you? Unlikely.

I personally have made quads once in a live setting. It was in 2016, in the first level of my first ever Main Event. I made quad eights vs top full house. I had 88, guy to my right had KK, and the board ran out K8x8x. For this to happen in my first even Main, it was unbelievable. To double up in level one of the biggest tournament of life, mama mia. Of course I went on to cash the tournament, make the final table, and bathe in my riches forever (played like an asshole on day 3 and bubbled, oops).

But you know the only thing worse than making quads? LOSING with quads!

My heavens! Poor quads guy. What is worse is a lot of the players in this event, the WSOP $1k mystery bounty, are recreational players who may not have the budget nor bankroll to buy back in. There were over 18,000 total runners in the tournament, making it the largest live $1k ever run, and many are everyday Joes who just wanted to take a stab at a WSOP event. So to lose on your very first hand like that is pain unlike any other.

The tournament is awesome- you pay your $1k entry and if you make day 2, every player then turns into a "mystery bounty". What's that mean? You knock someone out, you get to pull a random bounty ranging anywhere from $1,000 all the way up to $1 million! That's right. And this tournament got so huge there ended up being TWO million dollar bounties.

Incredible.

It was an eventful weekend out in the desert. Other things of note were Doug Polk making the finals of the $25k heads up with this hand

We had a classic internet hand:

And Stu's son finished 15th in a $5k!

Oh and Mintzy played tummy sticks with a sworn enemy of me/Barstool, smdh.

Nothing better than getting on your knees and blowing a guy who has gone out of his way to try and stop me, you, and everyone you know from getting a paycheck. Ol' "anything for a dollar" Mintz strikes again. Heard he's looking for a pair of tickets to tonight's Stanley Cup game for himself and Julia Black.

PS: If my doc appointment goes well on Thursday (meaning the bones are healing properly, etc) I am looking at being out there June 23-Main. Not quite what I originally planned but better than nothing! Praying for my stupid bones!!!
