#HeathlyDebate Who's A Bigger Idiot? The Person Who Rents Out This Insanely (And Should Be Illegally) Small Apartment Or The Dopes Who Agree To Live There?

NY Post- As Manhattan rents continue to skyrocket, most recently reaching an all-time high of $4,200 per month in April, New Yorkers are bound to see some crazy things.

That said, one particular city unit is going viral online because of how much you just don’t get for your buck.

In Greenwich Village, an empty third-floor apartment was listed for rent at $2,350 per month.

Considering this is way below the median rent in the city, you’d think you would be scoring a deal. That’s until you discover it only offers 77 square feet of space — and no bathroom.

Pegged as a “perfect starter apartment,” the previous listing notes, the unit at 49 W. 11th St. is a “Single Room Occupancy studio where you share the bathroom in the hallway with other tenants” — which has become the norm for a lot of buildings catering to college students.

“Do you believe this is a New York City apartment,” Labock asks. “This has to be the smallest apartment I’ve ever seen. It is a studio located in the Greenwich Village, and the space you see is the entire apartment.”

“You do have a small kitchenette set up with a mini fridge and a sink, one big window, and you might ask where the bathroom is. And the answer is that there is no bathroom in the apartment. It is actually located in the hallway and it shared between four different units.”

Heathy Debate ... Who's dumber? Someone who rents out a shitty (borderline illegal) apartment and puts their head on the pillow at night ? Or the people who agree to keep supporting this disgusting business and live there?

I want to blame the people who agree to live there I really do. I want to be outraged about them not pushing back that conditions liek this should be illegal. I want them to fight for themselves on the price, and that while it's below the city average it's still a disgustingly high amount for zero space. I even want them to scream and yell about their time being wasted for the tour, f they weren't described the apartment by the real estate agent. Then I took a second and realized... sadly sometimes people do just need a place to live. Also some people can live a simple life, and don't need things or stuff, or massive amounts of clothes. I love that I have two "Zillion Beers" shirts, but the fact of the matter is I really could survive without one or both of them and be just fine. The same with Lynnfield Baseball sweatpants I was given in college, their old, their beat up but they are comfortable so I keep them. Same with multiple TV's etc. Probably don't need all that crap if we were talking about essential survivor needs. So I envy these people who can live a simple life. Also, the chances are most of these people have relocated here for school or work and just need a place to live. It sucks, but they are forced to make concessions where they have to. So if they have to wait for the guy in the next apartment to wrap one around the bowl 8-9 times in the morning , then so be it. The shower becomes the tricky part. These people better develop a schedule.

Now the people who rent this out ? Total scum. I know they are just acting on behalf of the building , so then add the building owners as scum as well. These people have had these buildings paid off for years yet refuse to budge on a NICKEL going back into the place or updating it like they should. "Fuck that" they probably say , "why cut into the profits". It's a shitty business and really sucky that they don't ask themselves how they would feel if it was their niece in from some 1 horse town in Wyoming or Ohio coming to NYC trying to advance their career living their. They have no conscious, they have no morals and no ethics. Skells.

This is a runaway ... it's the people who rent this apartment that are total assholes.
