MLB GMs Are Saying The Guardians Will Be Participating In Their Favorite Hobby Again This Summer: Trading Away Cy Young Winners

Listen I'm not saying it's the wrong move. The Guardians cannot hit the baseball to save their lives right now. They have a trade piece that -- although a Cy Young winner, 2x All-Star, Gold Glove winner, etc -- would probably allow them to come out of the trade as clear winners with someone who is going for it all this year, especially when you factor in that we still have a fair amount of good young pitchers. Get Uncle Stevie on Line 1 and see what the Mets are willing to unload. Or better yet, call every single team in the AL East and say if you don't want him pitching for you down the stretch, he's going to be pitching against you down the stretch. I mean, the Red Sox are in dead last in the AL East at 29-27, which ties them in the losses column with the FIRST PLACE team in the AL Central, the dopey Twins (30-27). Even if the Guardians were to make a run at the division, we still stink.

Trading Shane Bieber before the deadline MIGHT be the right move for the team, but my god I fucking hate it. I despise that it seems like the two things Cleveland is known for is the river catching on fire 100 year ago, and also trading away our Cy Young winning pitchers.

CC Sabathia: 2007 Cy Young winner, traded to Brewers in 2008

Cliff Lee: 2008 Cy Young winner, traded to Phillies in 2009

Corey Kluber: 2014 AND 2017 Cy Young winner, traded to Rangers in 2019

and now Shane Bieber: 2020 Cy Young Winner, Yankee by July 31st?

And again, I get it. Bieber is on a one-year contract and is under team control for another season. We are NOT winning the World Series this year (although the AL Central is perhaps the worst division in baseball history and Francona's teams have always played much better in the second half). But the fact remains there are plenty of contenders that would be very willing to unload some young talent for Bieber. I just hate the idea of watching him pitch in the World Series this year for someone else.

This just screams Yankees to me....
