2-THE EXPERTS vs. 16-THE FAMILY
ROUND ONE, MATCH FOUR

(2) The Experts
- 11-4-0 Record
- 13.87 Points Per Game
- 1.73 Steals Per Game
- 100% Niche Success Rate
-- Brandon: 7.14 PPG
-- PFT: 6.51 PPG
-- Fran: 6.31 PPG

Experts Category Advantages: Celebrity Mashup, Music, College Football

(16) The Family
Tournament Stats
- 1-0-0 Record
- 14.00 Points Per Game
- 3.00 Steals Per Game
- 100% Niche Success Rate
-- Reags: 8.67 PPG
-- John Rich: 7.67 PPG
-- Big Ev: 5.67 PPG

The Family Category Advantages: Snacks & Candy, College Basketball, NBA

5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS MATCHUP:

  • The Experts were 2nd in points per game this season at 13.87; not only that, but they also averaged the least points scored against them at 10.70. They were blowing out opponents regularly.

  • Fran was undefeated in Celebrity Mashup this season, and The Experts were 21-4 as a team in Music. Both of which are weak categories for The Family. The Experts are in a prime position to sweep.

  • The Family just won their first game as a trio together, and now they must face the most experienced team on The Dozen. None of Reags, Big Ev, or John Rich’s five collective teams have beaten The Experts since Season 2.

  • College Football is typically a strength for The Family with Big Ev, but going against Brandon, they'll be lucky to break even.

  • College Basketball and whatever Food category comes up are key for The Family. Reags and John Rich need to sweep their specialties if they want a shot at winning.

Summarized: For The Family to pull off an upset, they need to win the Bonus, hit their Double & Niche, and hope The Experts aren’t on their A-game. The Experts just need to play like they have all season.

6-BIG SCREAMIN HONKERS vs. 11-BOOZE PONIES

Honkers Category Advantages: Celebrity Mashup, Movies, MLB

(11) Booze Ponies
- 3-4-1 Record
- 11.88 Points Per Game
- 3.13 Steals Per Game
- 63% Niche Success Rate
-- Dana: 6.48 PPG
-- Feits 4.96 PPG
-- Will: 3.48 PPG

Ponies Category Advantages: Television, NBA, College Football

5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS MATCHUP:

  • The Honkers were likely going to be the #2 or 3 seed going into the tournament if not for their shocking OT loss to Foreplay. After a 4-win streak that included winning The Crown, they’ve slinked down to #6 for the tournament following two close losses.

  • While the Booze Ponies don’t own a win over a Top 15-ranked team, their fan vote carried them to a #11 ranking.

  • The Honkers’ win streak was built upon their dominance as a Pop Culture team. They kill it in Celebrity Mashup, Movies, and Television. On the Booze Ponies, it’s all on Feits, who has been a big addition to their team, but the last time he was in the tournament, his team scored 2 points.

  • If the Honkers have a weakness, it’s the major sports categories: NFL, NBA, and College Football. For the Booze Ponies, this is Dana Beers’ best chance to take over a game. At the same time, we’ve seen Dana whiff on so many easy questions and give away answers by second-guessing himself countless times.

  • The Booze Ponies need to figure out what they’re Doubling. They’re 3-5 on Doubles this season and lost two games by one point because their opponent stole their Doubled question.

Summarized: The funny thing about this matchup is I think both teams were happy to get each other as opponents – the Honkers view the Ponies as a lay-up, and the Ponies see the Honkers as a team that just lost to Foreplay.
