Jack Eichel Waited 8 Long Years To Finally Get Back At The Edmonton Oilers For Passing On Him In The Draft

When Alexandre Daigle was drafted first overall in the 1993 NHL Draft, he said "I'm glad I got drafted first because no one remembers number two". Daigle would go on to become one of the biggest busts in NHL history while the guy drafted 2nd overall turned out to be a guy by the name of Chris Pronger. Perhaps you've heard of him. Stanley Cup Champion, member of the Triple Gold Club, Norris Trophy winner, Hart Trophy winner. Decent hockey player for sure.

The fact of the matter here is that sometimes #2 gets the last laugh. Jack Eichel has been waiting 8 years to get this laugh.

Look at these two little fuckers. Just a couple of sweet baby boys in that moment. And now 8 years later we get this.

Now it's been a long, strange road for Eichel to get to this moment. He had to deal with years of playing on a dog shit team in Buffalo without even sniffing the playoffs. The back injury, the surgery debacle, the trade to Vegas, missing out on the playoffs yet again last season. But now he's finally playing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time, matched up against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers in the 2nd round, picks 97's pocket and delivers the empty net dagger to lock up a game 1 win for the Golden Knights. That's an all-time grudge goal for Eichel. USA! USA! USA!
