Terrifying Video of a Coast Guard Helicopter Nearly Crashing Into The Ocean Attempting A High-Wind Rescue

I've said it before and I'll say it again: no branch of the military does more for Americans every single day than the Coast Guard. No one. I was researching this rescue but at first, I couldn't tell where it was located because, in this same region, the Coast Guard did four of these types of rescues in one day. Four in one day.

On this one, there was clearly a horrific storm that has winds swirling and the waves crashing. Flying a helicopter in those conditions is a skill that very few pilots could even think about doing. In forward-deployed areas, helicopters can't fly in high winds or sand storms unless the situation is incredibly dire. These pilots have life and limb rescues all the damn time. It's legit insane what they can do.

If you pay attention, you'll see multiple articles a week that show insane bravery by these pilots and the crew.

Whether it's a helicopter saving gravely ill passengers on a cruise ship or a fisherman stranded out at sea, or capturing mountains of cocaine and narcosubs, the Coast Guard is out there each and every day putting in that hard and dangerous work.

Lots of service members clown the Coast Guard because they are in the Department of Homeland Security and not the Department of Defense. Not me. Im a huge Coast Guard guy and if I wasn't a Marine, the only other branch I would have wanted to join is the Coast Guard.
