Noted Sports Mogul Antonio Brown Hasn't Paid His Players, but the Good News is He's Buying a $12 Million Estate

If we've learned anything from the 57 TV shows where the patriarch of a powerful family is fighting the entire world to keep his massive empire thriving, it's that the business world is a jungle. A vicious, indifferent, unfeeling, Darwinian ecosystem where only the strong survive, and everyone is hunting the strong. As Logan Roy or John Dutton or one of those surly CEO/fathers put it, "It's the one constant in life. You build something worth having, someone's gonna try to take it."

It's a lesson former football player turned football owner Antonio Brown is finding out first hand, now that he's purchased National Arena Football champions the Albany Empire. His team is 1-2. He fired last year's coach and already let go of this year's. No less than eight of his best players have been suspended. And even when they were playing for him, he was missing payroll:

So what's the leader of an Empire - both figuratively and in name - supposed to do when times are this tough? He does what all such powerful business magnates do.

In this situation, Roy would probably take a helicopter to somewhere and buy a major corporation. Dutton would probably ride a horse to somewhere, buy a bunch of cattle and then have sex with the hot governor. Antonio Brown? He's blowing off a little steam by diving into the home buying market:

Source - The controversial NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown, who just expanded his ownership stake in the Albany Empire, is in contract negotiations to purchase the $12 million Palazzo Riggi estate.

Margie Philo, managing broker with Berkshire Hathaway Adirondack Premier Properties, confirmed that Brown is one of two buyers interested in the property on North Broadway.

Smart move. Nothing will relax a guy who's semi-pro players are in a state of revolt over not getting paid like signing the Purchase & Sale on a fine piece of property. And a fine piece of property Palazzo Riggi is:

Berkshire Hathaway - Known as the “Palazzo Riggi,” this quintessential estate is the jewel of Saratoga Springs! The main house features two custom Clive Christian kitchens, elevator, indoor/outdoor radiant heat flooring, walkways and driveway, home theater designed by Theo Kalomirakis, personal fitness room with steam shower, and bowling alley. The estate includes custom materials & selections such as 23 marble medallions inlaid on the marble floors, fresco in the foyer, Sherle Wagner sinks, Schonbek chandeliers, and an award-winning staircase by Herndon & Merry. This home has been appointed with the finest finishes and fixtures, to include many artist hand painted murals. The grounds feature beautifully manicured gardens and lawns, fountains, and a swimming pool with spa, waterfalls and a pool house. All showings will require the listing agent and must have prior proof of qualified cash funds before any appointments or showings. This sale also includes adjacent vacant parcel at 23 Greenfield Road.

Ah yes, that'll make the cares of the world go away. Your players are using their credit cards to buy bulk packages of Ramens just to put dinner on the table? Enjoy a sumptuous meal in either of your custom Clive Christian kitchens! Your defending champions have started off 1-2? Take your own elevator to radiant heat ground floor and take a leisurely stroll along your radiant heated walkways and driveways! You're on your third coach already? Put your feet up in your Theo Kalomirakis-designed home theater, pop on Any Given Sunday and imagine a world where Al Pacino is your coach! Your players got locked out of their rooms at the Super 8? That shouldn't stand in the way of you appreciating the finer things in life, like an award winning Herndon & Merry staircase, the finest finishes and fixtures, and many artist hand painted murals!!

This whole football team owner thing might not be working out. But a day of walking the beautifully manicured gardens and lawns and a dip in the pool with the spa and waterfalls will be good for the soul.

And best of all, by the time AB's offer is accepted, it's possible the rest of his team will quit, and then he won't have to worry about meeting payroll at all! Leaving him more money for giving the personal touch to his pool house. Now if only he could smooth things over with the jeweler he owes a million bucks to, everything will be just perfect in his world.

He's in the business of being Antonio Brown. And in his own words, business is still Boomin'.
