The Philadelphia Eagles Continue To Load Up On Former Georgia Bulldogs, This Time Trade For D'Andre Swift

If you went to the University of Georgia at any point in your life, you're now a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. Them's the rules. Howie Roseman decided that he's just going bar for bar with every move that Kirby Smart has ever made, and I can't say I necessarily disagree with the strategy. The Eagles drafted Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean last year. This year they took Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith in the 1st round of the draft. Earlier today they picked up Kelee Ringo. And just when you thought the Eagles couldn't possibly add another Dawg to the mix, Howie Roseman goes out and brings D'Andre Swift home.

Hometown kid. Played high school ball at St. Joe's Prep. Had a couple of monster years at Georgia before going to the NFL. And now even though he's starting to get up there as far as "wear and tear" on running backs go, he'll fit in perfectly to exactly what the Eagles have perfected over the years--the running back by committee.

Obviously the Eagles went into the draft with a chance of landing a guy like Bijan Robinson. He's a guy who can be among the league leaders in rushing right away in the NFL. But honestly…that's just not the way the Eagles do things. And I'd argue having a bunch of different backs who can run in a bunch different styles is better off for the Eagles anyway. You've got Kenny Gainwell, Boston Scott, Rashaad Penny, and now D'Andre Swift. You don't need all of them to be great every single week. You don't even need all of them to be healthy every single week. As long as one or two of them can get themselves going per game, that's going to be more than enough to open everything up for this Eagles offense.

So what a move by Howie. I mean it was only a matter of time before he made the trade. The moment the news came out that the Lions were fielding calls for Swift, it made too much sense. A 4th and a 7th for a guy like this who now gets to run behind the Eagles O-line? What a steal.
