An On Court Contestant Went Full Hardo Last Night And It Went As You Expected… HORRIBLY

As Big Cat will tell you one of the best parts of the NBA package on TV is that they air the on court contests, and Jumbotron feed during breaks instead of commercials. It’s an interesting twist that always provides better content than watching a company’s commercial for the 47483939 time.

I don’t know how this footage leaked last night but what a moment in the world of on court contests. Meet Cooper who had to score 10 points in 30 seconds. There was what I can see a 3 point spot at the free throw line and a 10 pointer at the 3 point line. I assume most people would try to hit the shot for 10 points for 5-10 seconds and if they miss those then try to hit  4 free throws in the remaining seconds. Normal behavior.

Our friend Cooper here decided he would do neither. He put the ball down and riled up the crowd until the final seconds and then missed the shot from deep anyway. HARDOOOOOOOOO!

What a strange strange move. You better be SURE … I mean CERTAIN that if you try this move the shot will go in. And it’s and NBA three pointer so you would have to be crazy to think you will make it on just 1 shot unless you were some maniac who had a court in your house and just shot jumpers all day and night. Even then it’s not a guarantee. The best NBA shooters still miss uncontested in warmups. Kid was crazy for doing this. But … he got a ton of eyeballs so maybe that was his endgame goal anyway.

True story … In a past life I helped pick contestants for on court contests for an NBA team. I saw some wild moments. People going on court and when leaving trying to high five Spike Lee no matter how many times we said no. A coach in youth scrimmage game full court pressing the other team and holding them scoreless in front of all their families and friends. Lastly, I picked a kid for the blindfold challenge as we called it. The contestant was blindfolded put in the baseline and told to find the dancer at half court with a basketball. The crowd boos if he goes the wrong way, cheers as he gets closer. He got about 5-10 feet away with both his hands extended out and based on his height would have grabbed different round objects instead of the basketball. The dancer realized this and yanked the ball upwards hitting his hands and keeping everything PG in front of the 25k people in attendance. My supervisor at the table turned around with a look of relief.

But of all the contests and wacky moments I have ever seen in my short time in that game … the craziest shit went down ANYTIME we had Tic Tac Toe.

We would literally hand people a piece of paper in the rotunda to play . Didn’t matter . They went on court and lost their brains. Don’t believe me … watch this

Insane. People just lose their minds when they get out in the bright lights. It’s my favorite. I officially nominate Tic Tac Toe as a contest for The Barstool Invitational.
