The Ravens Are Giving Lamar Jackson ALL The Weapons, Take Zay Flowers 22nd Overall

Damn. What a fucking day. Woke up not having the slightest clue where things might head. Moving on from an entire era seemed to be at least a decent possibility, with numerous trade rumors afoot ranging from Lamar Jackson himself to DeAndre Hopkins. Damn near anything seemed to be on the table, and I'd be lying if I said I was excited about what might unfold.

Turned out… to be one of the best days I can remember. Just the Ravens winning another draft day. Got the franchise QB locked up ending years of endless drama, and we've pushed all our chips in the middle on our him too.

The Ravens' habit of failing to build around their QB goes back pretty much their entire history. There was the blip in 2012 where the stars aligned with Boldin, Torrey, Jacoby, and Pitta… but in terms of putting a ton of resources into the position and truly showing their QB that they're all in on giving him weapons? It really hasn't happened. Sure, they've taken swings throughout the years on 1st rounders like Travis Taylor and Mark Clayton and Breshad Perriman and mostly have fallen flat on their face. When they've taken those swings, they haven't supplemented those investments with other options.

This time… they're not fucking around. It very well may have taken a demand from Lamar Jackson to get it done… but they're doing it. Odell Beckham was a big free agent move, the type the Ravens stay far far away from. They quietly added Nelson Agholor and have a healthy Rashod Bateman coming back. And now… they add a bonafide dog in Zay Flowers.

Zay is a small speedy guy who packs a big punch. The comparison I keep seeing is Steve Smith. Absolutely love to see that. He can fly and will be an absolute weapon in the slot for years for Lamar. He'll learn from one of the best to ever run a slant in Odell, and the Ravens already have an embarrassment of riches at tight end. New OC Todd Monken has to be drooling over the possibilities with this offense.

Couple that with a defense that was top 10 last year and we're right back to being Super Bowl contenders. There's still some holes to patch up on that side of the ball with the loss of Calais Campell and likely departure of Marcus Peters…. but by all accounts it seems like Rock Ya-Sin will be a Raven after the comp pick window closes and they've got some wiggle room to attack the other issues the rest of the way in the draft and free agency.

But all in all…. what a day. I am going to sleep so easy tonight, and so is everyone in Baltimore. We wake tomorrow and step on the gas towards Super Bowl contention.
