In Honor Of Dillon Brooks, The Definitive List Of Athletes Who Reached The 'Should Have Never Talked Shit' Territory

Ah, good old Dillon Brooks. The man who said this:

And then backed up ZERO of his shit talking. He's one of the worst heels of all time. He's hiding from talking to the media and sucking on the court while blowing a series to the Lakers. That's just the start of this blog because I saw this tweet from KFC:

It's a great debate. Every so often we get a Dillon Brooks in our lives. A guy who says something so outrageous, it goes viral and all that only for him to suck. So I've compiled a definitive list of guys I remember doing the exact Dillon Brooks. In fact there's one that comes to mind right away:

Ruben Patterson aka the Kobe Stopper

Patterson was a good defender - Kobe even admits it. But you can't call yourself the Kobe stopper and then go give up 37

I miss the old school Blazers and Kings teams.

Freddie Mitchell - FredEx

I debated putting Freddie here but the man called himself FredEx because he was always open. I know he go that 4th and 26 play, but overall? Eh. Plus there was the Super Bowl against the Pats where he talked all that shit and went out and got 1 catch. Dude loved to talk, that's for sure.

Stephen Ames

Good old match play. Honestly I love the event and wish we had a couple more match play events throughout the golf year. Let's go back to 2006 when Ames said this before the first round match against Tiger

When asked about the match-up, Ames said: “Anything can happen. Especially where he’s hitting it.”

Ames lost 9&8. Maybe don't talk shit to the best golfer in the world? Just something that I wouldn't do. Even better was Tiger's response

Speaking afterwards, Woods was asked if there was any added motivation for the match. He said: “Oh yeah. There certainly was. Stephen provided it.

“I think I did alright today. I think he understands now.”

Elite.

Dax Miles - 2015 Sweet 16

Story here is simple. Dax Miles said that Kentucky wouldn't be undefeated anymore when they play WVU in the Sweet 16. Kentucky won 78-39 and Dax Miles hid in the bathroom after the game. I miss those days. 78-39! Kentucky treated WVU like a low-major after Miles said that.

Vince Young - Eagles Dream Team

[Source] - In a move that could eventually be a nightmare for Philly fans, newly-arrived backup quarterback Vince Young has declared the Eagles to be a “Dream Team.”

“From Nnamdi [Asomugha] to [Dominique Rodgers-]Cromartie, to Jason [Babin] to myself,“ Young told the media on Saturday, according to Tim McManus of PhillySportsDaily.com.  “I know they are going to do some more things. . . .  It’s just beautiful to see where we’re trying to go.”

Ah yes, the Dream Team line. Who could forget that offseason for the Eagles? Everyone was ready to crown them champs. The Eagles went 8-8 that year and missed the playoffs. Simpler times. I miss when the Eagles sucked and we need to get back to that ASAP.

James Ennis - Sixers will walk to the NBA Finals

Ennis was traded to the Magic during the season and the Sixers were swept in round 1 of the playoffs. Other than that, spot on. I mean the East was open. The Heat made the 2020 Finals as a 5 seed.

Matt Hasselbeck - We want the ball

I like confidence. I'm all for shit talking. But you can't say we want the ball and we're going to score before doing this. Just one of the all-time backfires.

LeBron James - Not 5, not 6…

You can see how pissed off Pat Riley is in the middle of this. Just a great 'oh fuck' look by him. Now, to be fair here, the Heat won some titles. But you can't do this sort of prediction and then lose to the Mavericks right away. They got their 2 titles, but that's what LeBron started with by saying no to.

Anthony Smith - Guarantees win over Pats, gets benched

It's one thing to predict a win. It's another to get your ass kicked so bad that you get benched. That's what happened here to Anthony Smith of the Pats in 2007. He guaranteed a win against the undefeated Pats. Spoiler: Pats won easily. Anthony Smith got burnt, had Tom Brady talking shit to him and got benched. Good day all around.

This is the list that popped to mind right away, let me know if I forgot any. I know you could throw in like Dan Gilbert, but I'm sticking to athletes only here.
