Stop Whatever You're Doing And Read About This Mets Fan That Has Dedicated His Life To Attending 10,000 Baseball Games

One of my favorite DM's. This is why you leave them open. My life is so much better for knowing about this guy Mike Casiano and his quest for 10,000 baseball games.

This is the original tweet to start the year. He came in at 9,250 total. Still a long way to go if we're being honest. But so much closer than anyone in history, right?

Cal Ripken played FOREVER. He's got 3,000 career games on the dot.

Mike Casiano has watched 3x as much baseball.

In fact, you could add up the total number of games played by Ty Cobb, Pete Rose and Derek Jeter and this Mike Casiano guy STILL has them beat.

That's so much baseball. I need to know the real reason he's going to so many games because this transcends fandom. This is the kinda behavior that requires a sworn blood oath. A MAN MUST DO HIS DUTY. He must achieve 10,000 baseball games.

Drilling into the data, it's actually way more impressive than you can imagine.

FIFTY ONE WORLD SERIES GAMES? Mike where you get that kinda scratch?

But only 1 all star game? I can understand. I went last year and it was so weak compared to playoff atmospheres.

Personally I'm torn on including Minor League with the minors much less a random collection of 6 independent games at the bottom. Like you can't use white out on the 7,897 at the top then sandbag me with a bunch of single shots at the bottom.

But digging into the next list, all skepticism is immediately erased

The underlying detail is more impressive than the streak itself. Wrigley 135 times? That's a 1,000 miles from this dude's hometown. Progressive and Guaranteed Rate isn't close for a Mets fan either.

In real time, Mike just did game 9,279

And based on him double fisting 2 tall boys, you can reasonably say he's crushed no less than 40,000 stadium beers in his life. If that's not a record then I don't want to keep stats any more.

Adjusting for inflation and normalizing his attendance to the mean, then we can infer that he's spent at least $200,000 on stadium beers in the last 59 years

Anyways point is this guy is fucking awesome. He's got like 3.5 years left to hit 10k and I would like to throw him a party when it happens. Maybe we blow it out big time and do two kegs in a Chicago garage?

Let me know Mike. We're all huge fans of your work and we would like to honor you.

PS - how many games do you have to attend before you set 10,000 as the goal?
