The Orioles Honored Miguel Cabrera During HIs Last Game At Camden Yards By Giving Him.....A Brick?

We're fully into the Miguel Cabrera retirement tour which means gifts and mini ceremonies at every ballpark he visits for the final time. Most of the time I think the gifts teams give these guys milking their retirement tour are pretty bad. Mostly just "bleh" items that these guys will forget about, except for the Orioles giving David Ortiz the phone he smashed in the dugout. But let me tell you, I think the Orioles gift to Miggy yesterday was pretty cool. A brick taken from the B&O Warehouse that overlooks the ballpark from right field. It had a plaque on it and congratulated Miggy on a Hall Of Fame career. It's a neat gift, it's unique to the ballpark and the team. I think it's pretty creative and something no other team can replicate with their gift.

Now will he put this brick somewhere in his mansion and fondly remember his times in Baltimore? Probably not. I'm willing to bet that brick didn't even make it on the plane. As a fan I thought the gift was cool, but I can imagine a player not giving a single shit. That thing was probably thrown out the bus window on the way to BWI. Most fans from Detroit probably didn't realize what the brick was from, but I think it's a cool token. Again, do I think Miguel cared about it? Not at all. Also, I get why they had to do it, but Miggy wasn't a rival of the Orioles.....he didn't play in their division. They had one playoff matchup but that was it. I didn't think it was necessary to honor him but I'm sure if they didn't people would have been pissed and upset. There aren't any real connections between Miggy and Baltimore but he's a 1st ballot guy so I get it, honor him and give him his flowers. The brick is a cool gift to me, I'm not so sure it was a cool gift for Miggy though.
