People Have Spent Two Days Bitching At The LA Times For Posting A Spoiler Right As The Last Episode Of Succession Aired

[Source] - But, what should have been a jaw-dropping moment for "Succession" fans was spoiled by the L.A. Times ... because the outlet posted an obituary for the fictional character online right as the episode was released Sunday night on HBO, and lots of viewers saw the article before they saw Roy die on the show.

The spoiler was hard to miss, because it was right there in the headline ... "Logan Roy, conservative media mogul who shaped contemporary politics, dies at 84."

First read Clem's breakdown here:

And here's what the LA Times had:

Which doesn't seem that bad … except this is the headline that was posted on Sunday night:

And now we get to argue about spoilers. Me personally? Welcome to 2023. You don't want something spoiled, stay off of Twitter and social media. Yeah, it seems impossible but it's the only true way to avoid spoilers. At the same time as someone who writes on the Internet, it ain't hard to not put it in the headline. Pretty simple, come up with a different headline, start the blog off with SPOILERS AHEAD and then it's on you not to read.

I think it's more on you to stop spoilers. We're in an era where people talk about shit the second it happens. Succession is one of the most talked about shows and you know Sunday night, HBO, you're going to see Succession tweets. Just get off Twitter until you can watch it. Set up a mute. Whatever it takes. The world doesn't stop because you are behind on watching a show. Sure, I'll complain that the NBA Draft was always better when you didn't know who was picked because Woj/Shams are tweeting it out 2 minutes before it happens. But that's me missing the old days of waiting to hear David Stern say a name.

Part of me wants to respect the LA Times for not giving a single fuck about people and only caring about clicks. Releasing the fake Logan Roy obit right as the episode airs is cold blooded. But it's the first time I've heard people talk about the LA Times in, I don't know, years?

PS: Still the best spoiler of all time
